Lucky Dog rescues dogs and cats in need, ensures that they are vaccinated and spayed/neutered, and finds them loving, forever homes … all through a foster-based, volunteer-powered system. A team of five paid staff trains, mentors, and manages more than 2,000 volunteers who pitch in however they can: transporting animals from rural shelters, coordinating adoption events, assisting with marketing and fundraising, providing foster homes, and much more. Foster parents learn each animal’s comforts, fears, and character traits, and this information is used to ensure the best possible adoption match. More than 22,500 dogs and cats (yes, cats too) have been rescued in the 13 years since Lucky Dog’s founding in 2009, including hundreds retrieved in the wake of natural disasters. Your support relieves underfunded, high-kill shelters, curbs overpopulation, brings joy into thousands of homes and hearts … and saves lives.
