Abused and neglected children in the court system deserve an advocate: a highly trained, dedicated, passionate adult who has the child's best interests at heart. Over the past 34 years, that's just what Fairfax CASA has done for more than 8,000 children. An intensive recruiting and training process, complemented by ongoing support from professional staff, ensures the best advocates possible. CASA volunteers complete in-depth investigations of each case to give the court a clear picture of the child's needs and remain committed to the child until the case is closed (23 months on average), providing consistent support until a safe, permanent home is found. For many children, their CASA volunteer is their only safety net in the child welfare system, ensuring that these vulnerable children do not slip through the cracks of the system by keeping the focus on them.
