For many foreign-born residents (one in seven in DC), asking for help is a challenge. Without a solid grasp of the language or legal system, they don't know where to go or whom to trust. Today, harsh policy shifts, including revoked visas without due process and unlawful deportations that ignore court protections, are tearing families apart. Ayuda is on the front lines. As the only nonprofit in DC, Maryland, and Virginia offering a full range of immigration and family law assistance, case management, therapy, and language support for low-income immigrants, Ayuda provides services for survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, and specialized representation for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. They helps families navigate crisis, secure their rights, and rebuild their lives, ensuring immigrants have advocates in courtrooms, access to trauma-informed care, and interpreters who make their voices heard.
