Working to make justice real in individual and systemic ways for people living in poverty in DC, requires an unwavering commitment to racial justice and equity. Legal Aid provides legal assistance for thousands of DC residents. Getting legal help could mean a family keeps their home, a woman escapes a domestic violence situation, or a hungry family receives the right amount of SNAP benefits. Last year, Legal Aidís services directly benefited nearly 8,800 DC residents, the majority of whom live in the poorest wards of the city. Tens of thousands more benefited from law reforms advocated for by Legal Aid, including comprehensive reforms to DCís debt collection laws. Help Legal Aid to continue their mission of making justice real for everyone.
