Following a groundswell of interest in organizing after the 2016 elections, Rising Organizers emerged to fill the gap in providing accessible, high-quality training in community organizing and leadership development. Across nine sessions, its intensive Community Organizing Fellowship equips new and emerging leaders with the tools to assess power, build a base, and design effective campaigns. Community members participate for free, learning and practicing tangible skills such as relationship-building and campaign development, while staff at organizing and advocacy organizations enroll in an affordable bootcamp-style version of the program. More than 350 alumni continue to organize across the region and, through its latest DC Organizing Lab program, further sharpen their political analysis by designing and executing organizing experiments. An organizing festival and free public trainings elevate the activism of hundreds more, building a future where everyday residents hold the power.
