Founded to promote knitting as a form of wellness and resilience among anteand postpartum women, PK has since grown to introduce knitting to a variety of communities facing challenges, from cancer patients and caregivers to refugees and people experiencing homelessness. As a well-documented therapeutic tool, knitting helps reduce anxiety and promote both physical and psychological healing. Its portability makes it particularly accessible for those who cannot otherwise access wellness services, so PK provides every participant with a starter kit that includes a beginner resource guide and yarn with several rows already started on needles. In one-on-one settings or online classes, this ensures participants have everything they need to continue their practice independently. PK further engages participants through six-week sessions at various partnership sites. For PK, even a brief introduction to knitting can be transformative.
