Poiema is a place of healing and hope, where women and mothers with children in Southern Maryland move from crisis toward stability and restoration. Women come with stories shaped by homelessness, substance use, domestic violence, justice involvement, or trauma. More than transitional housing, Poiema provides long-term care for women and mothers with children ages 10 and under. Across three homes in Waldorf, Maryland, residents live for 12 to 24 months with support: case management, life skills, parenting guidance, recovery support— building toward employment, savings, and stability. Each woman sets her goals and does the work while staff and volunteers walk alongside with encouragement and accountability. Poiema serves women ready to rebuild their lives in a community of faith and dignity. Her past does not have to define her future.
