Since 2010, the National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens (NRNRC) has helped people rebuild their lives after incarceration—led by those who've lived it themselves. What started as a volunteer effort became a full nonprofit in 2016, and today NRNRC supports returning citizens and their families across DC with real, hands-on help.Through Ready4Work, participants build digital skills, polish resumes, practice interviewing, and get coaching to land and keep good jobs. The Peer Navigator Program pairs them with mentors who understand the journey firsthand, connecting them to housing, healthcare, and other essentials. NRNRC also runs the Community Led Preventive Model, bringing neighbors together for restorative, trust-building work, plus L.E.G.A.C.Y., a mentoring program for teens 13 to 17 building confidence and future-ready skills. Together, these programs help people, and whole communities, move forward.
