As the federally recognized domestic violence coalition for the District, DCCADV has helped shape major policy reform since 1986, from workplace safety laws to establishing a 24/7 confidential victim hotline. It coordinates a comprehensive, survivor-centered response by supporting a network of 16 member organizations that provide the services survivors rely on, convening them regularly across multiple work groups to identify service gaps, align best practices, and address systemic barriers. A robust training and technical assistance program educates advocates, member organizations, partner agencies, and government entities on confidentiality, accessibility, domestic violence dynamics, prevention, and compliance. DCCADV staff also lead advocacy to secure funding for services and elevate survivor needs in policy discussions, while additional outreach efforts raise awareness of available resources in schools and communities. DCCADV strengthens the entire ecosystem of care.
