- Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Volunteer Office Assistant: Volunteers in this position support our staff in the Crisis Center and interact with both staff and clients. Main responsibilities include gathering food bags for clients, managing client files, and other clerical tasks, as assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator. We have volunteer shifts available in one-hour increments on Mondays and Fridays starting at 9am and ending at 2pm, and Monday evenings starting at 5pm and ending at 7:30pm. A background check must be completed and a Confidentiality Agreement must be signed before starting in this position. Volunteers must be 18+ and physically able to lift bags and boxes of food up and down stairs.
Food Transporter Volunteer: Volunteers in this positon pick-up food donations from a grocery store and deliver them to our food pantry on Wednesday and/or Thursday mornings. This opportunity occurs on a regular weekly schedule at locations in Laurel, Maryland. Current shifts available are Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with a length of approximately two hours. Volunteers interact with donors, staff, and other LARS volunteers. Volunteers have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a reliable vehicle. In addition, volunteers must be 18+ and physically able to lift bags and boxes of food up and down stairs. - Types of Volunteers Needed: individual/adult; individual/college; individual/high school; families with children; adult groups of less than 5; adult groups of 6 or more, including corporate teams
