Last year’s numbers say it all: 42,879 visitors; 384,000 pounds of food; 16,676 volunteer hours. Whether a person is homeless, elderly, living on disability, or just struggling to make ends meet, the Food Pantry sends a clear message: come and you will be fed. Founded in 1980 to offer canned goods to just a few families, it now provides bread, fresh produce, frozen meat, and other groceries to roughly 234 families weekly. No referrals are required, and volunteers greet many clients by name. Clients contribute too, assisting in the pantry or in the on-site garden, where they help grow fresh vegetables and herbs. This impressive operation is run entirely by volunteers and, thanks to Columbia Church and other generous partners, 100% of revenue is used to purchase food. Demand increases each year: let’s make certain everyone is fed.
